Marie Antoinette Gets “Tricky” in Chanel Cruise 2013

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld has done it again. He and his creative team collaborated on a revolutionary 2013 Cruise collection that screams absurd, while maintaining traditional Chanel chic and subtle flare. Lagerfeld and co. have an uncanny knack for transforming the risky and untraditional into timeless elegance.

A personal favorite was an adorable white, geometric bubble dress modeled by Georgia Hilmer. Adorned in white lace and subtle violet floral print, this dress caters to the heart of any royal princess with a secret edge. Only the most daring of Chanel lovers can rock this look.

The line featured an array of subtle pastels that mixed risky textures and vivacious jeweled and feathered embroidered statement pieces. According to the man behind the craziness himself, the Lagerfeld vision for this line served to bring 21st century life to “Versailles in a Socialist France.” The line modernized the iconic French period with its dash of hip-hop glow, cheekily clashing with the soft palate. Leave it to Chanel to pair funky velvet platform sneakers with traditional pleated skirts and blazers. Picture Marie Antoinette and her royal friends at a Run-DMC concert and there you have it-Chanel Cruise Line 2013.
