Mark Your Calendars & Get Tickets for “The Nearness of You” Benefit at Lincoln Center

Friday, December 5, 2014

Mark this in your calendar, Insiders! On Tuesday, January 20th, join Paul Simon, James Taylor, Bobby McFerrin, Dianne Reeves, Branford Marsalis, Ravi Coltrane and additional special guests as they honor 15-time Grammy Award® winning saxophonist Michael Brecker at “The Nearness of You” Benefit Concert.

Brecker died in 2007 after being diagnosed with Myelodisplastic Syndromes (MDS) in 2004. The saxophonist searched in the International Bone Marrow Registry for a match but failed to find a matching donor. Tens of thousands of people were inspired to register in hopes of saving Brecker’s life and 54 people were saved thanks to new registrants being perfect matches.

Proceeds from the concert, which is being produced by Michael Brecker’s widow, Susan Brecker, will support cancer research at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) and the work of Azra Raza and Siddhartha Mukherjee.

Tickets are available at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
