Megu, formerly in the Trump World Tower on United Nations Plaza, left that location right around the time its namesake decided to run for public office. Now reopened in the Dream Downtown on West Sixteenth Street by owner Jon Bakhshi (who also owns the beautiful-people stuffed Beautique across the street from the Plaza Hotel), it occupies the atmospheric underground den that formerly housed Jonathan Morr‘s Cherry, and also serves high-end sushi and sashimi as well as robata grilled meats. But AVENUE finds the appetizers particularly appetizing. Try Megu’s edamame lollipops and crispy rock shrimp. Jennifer Creel, Dori Cooperman, Claudine De Niro, Ja Rule, and Valesca Guerrand-Hermes have already been spotted there.
