Party-goers caught a glimpse into Osman Yousefzada’s multi-media world last Wednesday, April 12. To celebrate the Afghan-British fashion designer’s eponymous collection launch at Barneys New York and his latest biannual publication, The Collective No. 5, curator Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn hosted a private cocktail event at her gallery space/home, Salon94, with Daniella Vitale, CEO of Barneys.

“I wanted to create go-to pieces that can be worn again and again,” Yousefzada says of his Resort 2017 collection currently in stores. “I would say it’s a mix of quite a few things. It is still feminine, flattering and has an edge.”

Known for its sculptural silhouettes and impeccable tailoring, the Osman brand has gained quite a following since its debut in 2008 at London Fashion Week. Notables from Poppy Delevingne, Emma Watson, and Allison Williams have been seen in his designs. Strong, but never overpowering, the pieces radiate wearability—meaning for Barneys, a good sign of profitability.

Guests viewed artwork throughout the posh space while sipping Perrier-Jouet champagne and flipping through The Collective No. 5. “Osman’s magazine, which features art, poetry, literature and fashion is something to be commended,” says Greenberg Rohatyn. The 136-page read is filled with essays and images from diverse contributors including Anthea Hamilton, Celia Hempton, Prem Sahib, and Christodoulos Panayiotou, who photographed the four limited-edition covers.

In company were Michael Avedon, Jennifer Creel, Sophie Elgort and Eric von Stroh, Ansel Elgort and Violetta Komyshan, Lisa Perry, Roxanne RobinsonBrian Lovelock, Julie Beeckman, Alek Wek, Anne Huntington, Elizabeth Kurpis, Chloe WiseJiaJia Fei, and Antwan Sergeant.
