Interior designers often churn out coffee-table reads like clockwork, but for perpetually in-demand Muriel Brandolini, putting together her debut book, The World of Muriel Brandolini, was a major step.  In between breathlessly greeting friends like Uma Thurman, Max Snow and Vanessa Traina, Nate Berkus, Carlos Huber, and Matt Lauer, she told AVENUEinsider: “My mind works at such a furious pace and literally everyday I am inspired by new things, simply by walking down the street. So for a long time I resisted doing any kind of retrospective.”  But at last, she has given what her friends and fans have wanted for so long.  On Tuesday night, Barneys and co-host James de Givenchy feted the artist in the store’s 9th floor pop-up dedicated to the artist’s limited edition home collection.

Fashionable guests like Pia Getty, Mark Lee, Miranda Brooks, Pamela Fiori, Dr. Lisa Airan, India Hicks, Ann Caruso, Cornelia Guest and Jennifer Creel mingled over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres whilst checking out the beaded pillows, technicolor rugs, sling chairs, and other signature pieces of Brandolini’s collection.  As if the designer weren’t busy enough, on October 21st, Phillips de Pury & Co. will auction off items from her personal collection. As Simon Doonan told us, “we have always loved working with Muriel, and now is officially her time. This is her shining moment.”  It looks like Muriel Brandolini’s “world” is very quickly expanding.
