Narciso Rodriguez (heart) Bottletop Collection X Pepsi U.S. Launch

Thursday, May 15, 2014

Eco-Age Creative Director Livia Firth has awarded the Green Carpet Challenge brandmark to luxury British accessories brand Bottletop, for its exclusive collaboration with Narciso Rodriguez. She praised the line – which celebrated its U.S. launch last Thursday at Sikkema Jenkins & Co. art gallery – for its “marriage of ethics and aesthetics…connecting sustainable materials and design with real people in the supply chain.”

Other notables who feted the unveiling were Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy, Anna Wintour, Donna Karan, Bottletop brand ambassador Candice Swanepoel, Kelly Rutherford, Olivia Palermo, and Jessica Seinfeld.

Handbag designs featuring the Amazon Rainforest-friendly leather and up-cycled metal ring pulls created by hand in Brazil were displayed alongside campaign imagery of supermodel Candice Swaneopoel by photographer Ben Watts. Photos of the Bottletop atelier in Brazil, courtesy of documentary lensman Andre Vieira, were also on display. Midway into the evening, guests were treated to the preview of a 90 second film by award-winning filmmaker Henry Mason, depicting both the empowering journey of the creation of the women’s handbag designs and the community of Itapua in Salvador, Brazil. The Chelsea gallery proved the perfect location for the festivities, complete with the exhibition of Album by Brazilian artist Vik Muniz as the backdrop.

In addition, first ever, limited edition Narciso Rodriguez [heart] Bottletop x Pepsi cans were featured and snapped up by guests – eager to have one of the just 250 cans – at the event, elegantly uniting the partnership and journey of the collection’s inspiration together.

Anna Wintour arrived early for a personal walk through of the collection with Rodriguez and Bottletop co-founders Cameron Saul and Oliver Wayman.

Brazil was a constant theme as guests danced to the sounds of Brazilian music spun by DJ Mousse X, including Sports Illustrated models Natasha Bernard and Hannah Ferguson.
