Last Friday, friends of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) gathered at Cipriani’s for the HSUS To the Rescue! New York Gala, which benefits and celebrates the work of the organization’s Animal Rescue Programs. The New York co-chairs of the national event included Amanda Hearst, Georgina Bloomberg, and Kimberly Ovitz. Serving on the star-studded honorary committee were Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Tricia Helfer, Wendie Malick, Rose McGowan, Maria Menounos, Jenna Morasca, Viggo Mortenson, Chynna Phillips and William Baldwin, and Hilary Swank. Hosted by Ali Wentworth, the fashionable benefit drew a crowd of notables, such as Angela Simmons, Katrina Bowden, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Mark Sanchez, New York Giants’ Prince Amukamara, among many others, and featured a special music performance by Colbie Caillat. By the close of the evening, the event raised a whopping $1.6 million on behalf of The Humane Society of the United States’ Animal Rescue Programs.
