Ninth Annual Starlight Ball Honors Courtney Sale Ross

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Hundreds of guests gathered Saturday, June 2 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ross School at the Ninth Annual Live Starlight Ball at the school’s campus in East Hampton. Charles Stevenson and Alex Kuczynski co-chaired the benefit, which honored Courtney Sale Ross, the school’s founder, for her devotion to progressive education. Donna Karan, Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg all paid tribute to Mrs. Ross through speeches and a video montage.

The Silent Auction, which included a private shopping party at Lily Pulitzer on Madison Ave. and the Live Auction, which included a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at a venue of your choice, helped raise a record-breaking $1 million. The benefit raised money for Ross School programs and scholarships, such as the Steven J. Ross Scholarship Fund.

Guests danced into the night, while enjoying a special performance from Grammy Award-winning artist Roberta Flack. Flack performed songs including, “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and “Where is the Love” as a special treat.
