There’s been buzz and hub-bub surrounding the upcoming Martha Marcy May Marlene since it premiered at Sundance Festival this past season. After making it’s way through the Toronto Film Festival and Cannes a screening was held at Alice Tully Hall Lincoln Center as part of the 2011 New York Film Festival. Elizabeth Olsen stars in a shockingly dark film about a girl trapped in a horrifying cult, lead by Winter Bone‘s John Hawkes. The buzz comes not because of her close relation to fellow Olsen’s Mary-Kate and Ashley (yup, she’s their little sister) but from her highly acclaimed performance as Martha.

Last night’s screening attracted the likes of Indie darlings and A-Listers alike, with Parker Posey, Chace Crawford, Terry Richardson, Aly Hilfiger and of course, the supportive older sisters all ready to celebrate the debut performance of a promising young actress. An after-party was held at the Empire Rooftop where guests danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Cassie Coane. I hear Oscar buzzzzzz.
