On Saturday, July 9 the Parrish Art Museum hosted its annual Midsummer Party, honoring Barbara J. Slifka, at the museum’s Water Mill location. Over 1000 artists, philanthropists and business leaders of the art world attended. Guests conversed over cocktails and than dined over dinner on the Mildred C. Brinn Terrace.

Slifka has been a longtime part of the Parrish community and she was chosen because of her dedication to visual and performing arts, as well as and environmental and social causes. The honorary co-chairs for the event were Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola. Artists Eric Fishl, April Gornik, Dan Rizzle, Keith Sonnier and Robert Wilson attended, as did guests including Deborah Bancroft, Dottie Herman, Dorothy Lichtenstein and museum director Terrie Sultan.

Attendees were granted a sneak peak of Platform: Jonah Bokaer, in addition to the museum’s current exhibits. The event also featured a live auction. Prizes up for bid included a private rehearsal access and opening night tickets to the BAM Next Wave Festival’s Rules of the Game by Jonah Bokaer, Daniel Arsham, and Pharrell Williams; a Bulgari Lucea watch; a private dinner by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton; a connoisseur wine collection; and a golf outing at the National Golf Links of America in Southampton. There was also the opportunity to make donations in support of the museum’s educational programming.

After dinner, the party moved into the Lichtenstein Theater with the Parrish Contemporaries Circle After Party. Guests enjoyed desserts from Olivier Cheng Catering and Events, viewed beautiful event design by Ron Wendt Design and danced to tunes from DJ Coleman. The Parrish Contemporaries Circle is open to art aficionados ages 21-45, and members receive invitations to events on the East End as well as in New York City.

The event raised over $1 million, and all of the proceeds went to the Parrish Art Museum.

The Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill. For additional information, call 631-283-2778 or visit parrishart.org.
