You don’t need a spoonful of sugar to down Mary Poppins Returns, the sequel to the 1964 Disney classic. On Monday night, The Cinema Society with FIJI Water and Lindt Chocolate hosted a screening of the film at the SVA Theatre, with an after-party at the Top of the Standard.

The film stars Emily Blunt as the titular nanny and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, a former apprentice of Bert from the original movie. This time, Poppins comes to help Michael Banks and his children, who are all reeling from the loss of their wife and mother earlier in the year. And soon, they may be forced to leave their childhood home too. Poppins arrives right on time.

The movie fits perfectly with the holiday season, spreading the message that, “nothing is impossible.” For New Yorkers, that includes a room with a view of both the Empire State Building and One World Trade. After the screening, guests followed the wind west to the Boom Boom Room at the Top of the Standard, where the magical evening continued.

In addition to Blunt and Miranda, also attendance were director Rob Marshall, producers Marc Platt & John DeLuca; composer Marc Shaiman, andscreenwriter David Magee, as well as Patricia Clarkson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Orlando Bloom, Sam Mendes, Martha Stewart, Ellen Burstyn, Michael Kors & Lance Lepere, Donna Karan, Doug Liman, Huma Abedin, Lorraine Bracco, Coco Rocha, John Leguizamo, Amir Arison, Erich Bergen, Patina Miller, Joel Grey, Paul Sorvino, Brian d’Arcy James, Cory Michael Smith, Rufus Wainwright, Jon Batiste, Geneva Carr, Emma Myles, Ben Sinclair, Jim Gaffigan, Sami Gayle, Dean Winters, Lois Smith, Richard Kind, Neil Burger, Rachel Bay Jones, Ari’el Stachel, Samantha Mathis, Ashley Park, Erika Henningsen & Kyle Selig, Charlotte d’Amboise, Terrence Mann, Christian Coulson, Laura Michelle Kelly , Amber Ruffin , Eve Plumb, Seth Herzog Jessica Keenan Wynn, Comfort Clinton, Chip Zien, Jessica Hart, Tom Freston & Carey Lowell, Jeff Zucker, Cynthia Rowley, Lorraine Schwartz, Alex Lundqvist, Garrett Neff, Hal Rubenstein, Jon Stevens, Daniel Benedict, Ariana Rockefeller, Amy Fine Collins, Ashley Haas, Mariah Strongin, Jessica Barta Lam, Marina Rust Connor, Sally Singer, Amy Sacco, Jeffrey Sharp, Luke Janklow, Anouck Lepere, Gretta Monahan & Ricky Paull Goldin, Tara Westwood, Jazmin Grimaldi & Ian Mellencamp, Geoffrey Zakarian and Andrew Saffir.
