Posen talks fashion at ‘Sunday at the Met’

Monday, June 23, 2014

Sunday afternoon the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosted a conversation on glamour and Charles James as part of “Sunday at the Met.”

Designer Zac Posen discussed James’ enduring impact and his personal fashion repertoire with the Met’s Charles James:Beyond Fashion exhibit co-curator Jan Glier Reeder.

Posen and Reeder also discussed James’s glamour, technique and lasting impact on the fashion industry in general. Beginning with Posen’s first collection up to the gowns he designed for certain guests at this year’s Met Gala; James’s influence has been a consistent inspiration for Posen.

Posen, who also drapes rather than sketches, gave his opinion on James’ draping and cutting, as well as his thoughts on James’s pervasive rule-breaking. The conversation was held in conjunction with the Charles James exhibition.
