What makes a holiday party happier? A toast to a charitable cause. Last night, philanthropists Jean and Martin Shafiroff hosted a Thanksgiving cocktail party for the NYC Mission Society at their Park Avenue home.

The invitation requested, “Wear fall colors!” and guests obliged, wearing shades of red, gold, orange, brown, purple and gray. Dressed in an emerald green ball gown and long white gloves, Jean greeted attendees as they arrived, each with a gift in hand to donate to the annual toy drive of the NYCMS, where she is among the board of directors. This year, the non-profit human services organization plans to give nearly 900 toys to girls and boys in need in Harlem and The Bronx.

“When it comes to giving, Jean Shafiroff leads the pack,” quoted Elsie McCabe Thompson, president of the NYCMS, in the first page of Shafiroff’s book, Successful Philanthropy. Champagne and hors d’oeuvres were served throughout the evening as guests mingled and compared holiday plans.

Among the crowd were Ann Dexter-Jones, Margo Langenberg, Roy Kean, Ann Rapp, Cassandra Seidenfeld, Dawne Marie Grannum, Simona Gjokikj, Shameda Shah, Frederico Wasserman, Cass Almendral, Kathleen Giordano, Janna Bullock, Massimo Gargia, Larry Kaiser, Victor de Souza and Lee Fryd.
