New York and the Hamptons prepares to show its colors for the 2015 annual Pride Festival.

Originating in 1970, the celebration has expanded year after year to become one of the biggest promotions of LGBTQIA rights in the world.

Events run throughout the weekend- here’s our pick of some of the best.

Friday 26

Fantasy- Kick off the Pride weekend with a visual spectacle at this burlesque masquerade extravaganza. The newly opened Diamond Horseshoe hidden under Times Square provides an atmospheric venue. Masks encouraged.

Saturday 27

V.I.P Rooftop Party- Ignite your party spirit with an exclusive event at Hudson Terrace. This party warm-up features music from top DJs and a Reyka Vodka, Milagro Tequila, Hendricks Gin and Monkey Shoulder whisky bar. The event runs from 2pm-10pm.

WE Party: University- Come and experience one of the biggest Pride club events in the world, as Masterbeat convert Hammerstein Ballroom into New York’s largest mega-club. The theme this year is University, so prepared to be taught how to party! Class begins at 10pm.

Live Out Loud in the Hamptons- Bruce T. Sloane opens up his home on Bay Lane, East Hampton, for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing. A stylish silent auction will be held to raise money for Live Out Loud, with the fun beginning at 6pm.

Sunday 28

Pridefest- This annual streetfair is a great way to soak up the Pride atmosphere while shaking off your hangover. Come and enjoy food, performances and pick up some NY Pride goodies. Come down to Hudson Street from 11am.

Dance on the Pier- The pièce de résistance in the annual Pride calendar is this epic dance party at Pier 26, Hudson River Park. Popstar Ariana Grande headlines the event, with The Cube Guys, Ralphi Rosario and Wayne G providing DJ sets. It’s going to get crazy.

Tickets are available from nycpride.org and liveoutloud.info
