Last night, Sunday November 9th, Project Perpetual, a new philanthropic art organization whose effort is to benefit global humanitarian issues, held an auction led by Simon de Pury at the Four Seasons Restaurant. For this first annual fundraising auction, Project Perpetual teamed up with Jeff Koons and the United Nations Foundation.

The organization was founded by art collector Svetlana Kuzmicheva-Uspenskaya, and aims to combine the energy and creativity of the contemporary art world and the power of global influencers to help those in need by working with major artists from the worlds of fashion, film, business, and art to serve as inspiration and to produce a series of pieces to be auctioned off.

This year, all proceeds from the auction will benefit the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign; which provides children around the world with life-saving vaccines for measles, polio, rotavirus and pneumonia.

The fundraiser’s incredible list of artists this year includes Sofia Coppola, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Princess Caroline of Hanover, Almine Ruiz-Picasso, Rachel Feinstein, Daniel Arsham, Kate Moss and Clarence Seedorf.

All new works by Jeff Koons were unveiled last night, including the much-talked-about large plaster ‘Gazing Ball’ sculpture inspired by Picasso’s La Soupe with three donated Hermès Birkins. The auction also included additional donated luxury handbags customized by Koons and sold as individual lots.
