Rallying for Rango

Monday, February 28, 2011

Yesterday, while many celebs were gearing up for the Oscars, a handful of New York notables spent the afternoon with their “mini me’s” for the screening of Rango, hosted by the Cinema Society.

It was a family affair at the Crosby Street Hotel with guests like Edie Falco (with son Anderson and daughter Macy), Mariska Hargitay (with son August), Mary Alice Stephenson (with son Willem, who adorably gushed that he had “the best seat in the house!”), George Stephanopoulus & Ali Wentworth (with daughters Elliott and Harper), John McEnroe (with daughter Ava), mother/daughter duo Coco Kopelman & Jill Kargman (with Fletch & Ivy of the Kargman crew) and Nigel Barker and his son Jack.

One of the stars of the movie, born and bred New Yorker Abigail Breslin (who is not so LITTLE Miss Sunshine anymore-she’s so grown up!),  proudly introduced the movie and spoke about her busy schedule promoting the animated film (which also stars Johnny Depp and Isla Fischer)–traveling to Berlin, London, Paris and Rome.

The kiddies (and kids at heart) munched on popcorn and candy and giggles permeated the theater. Over all, the movie was great and AVENUEinsider was very impressed at how well-behaved the audience was despite their apparent sugar rush!
