Is there any thing that Meryl Streep can’t do? That’s the question that her latest film, Ricki and the Flash, seems to be trying to answer. And the answer is a resounding no. The woman who brought Margaret Thatcher and Julia Child to life, steps easily into the shoes of a rock ‘n’ roll musician who comes back home to re-connect with her family. At 66, you may not expect to see Streep sporting leather and braids and rocking out live on the guitar, but she does it effortlessly.

She also steps effortlessly into the shoes of style queen, like she did on August 3 at the New York screening of the film.

Streep was joined at the event by her co-stars musician Rick Springfield, drummer Joe Vitale and real-life daughter Mamie Gummer, who also plays her daughter in the film.

During the evening, the Mommy and me duo discussed the challenges and joys of working together and raved about each other’s performances. ““I was blown away. I’m not objective — I think she’s fantastic,” Streep admitted. “But I think other people have corroborated that.”

The film, which is penned by Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody and directed by Jonathan Demme, also stars Kevin Kline, who previously worked with  Streep in Sophie’s Choice, Sebastian Stan and, in a match made in award show heaven, 6-time Tony winner Audra McDonald.

Laverne Cox, Amy Fine Collins, Tommy Tune, Marisa Tomei, Pat Cleveland, Prabal Gurung, Wes Gordon and Grace Gummer also attended the event.
