Ronald McDonald House Masquerade Draws First Major Crowd for Halloween “Week”

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

While Frankenstorm has put Halloween celebrations temporarily on hiatus, some of AVENUEinsider’s favorite New Yorkers kicked off the holiday this past Thursday at Ronald McDonald House New York’s inaugural “Masquerade” bash. Host Michelle Trachtenberg welcomed friends and other VIP attendees Charlotte Ronson, Donny Deutsch, Jen Raines, Ali Wise, Dori Cooperman, Tara Spiegel, NY Knicks Guard JR Smith, Jesse Cole, and models Erin Heatherton and Kenza Fourati to Tom Colicchio‘s hot new venue “Apella,” where guests enjoyed sumptuous hors d’oeuvres, bid on luxury raffle prizes, and socialized over a few cocktails.

The event raised $400,000 for the House, a charity that holds a special meaning for many of the evening’s supporters who grew up near its Upper East Side location and have visited and volunteered at the center over the years. To date, Ronald McDonald House has provided a home-away-from home to more than 30,000 families while their children receive treatment at nearby New York hospitals for some of the most rare and aggressive cancers.
