Co-Chairs Michael Cominitto and designer Dennis Basso hosted the Silver Hill Hospital black-tie 80th anniversary party at Cipriani on 42nd Street. Everyone in New York adores Michael and Dennis so naturally eveyrone showed up, like: Ann Curry, Nina Griscom, Al Roker, Ashley McDermott, Bettina Zilkha, Alexandra Lebenthal, Joan Collins, Douglas Friedman (who recently moved back to NYC from LA) and Scott Currie. Dori Cooperman (Manhattan’s most prolific tweeter), Samantha Boardman Rosen, Marjorie Gubelmann, Mario Grauso, Ulla Parker, Avie and Gigi Mortimer, Helen Lee Schifter, Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, Todd Meister, Eva Lorenzotti, Fern Mallis (the #1 most photographed woman in New York was in a dress from India), Hoda Kotb, Jamie Tisch, Tory Burch, Richard and Marcia Mishaan, Stefanie Winston Wolkoff, Pamela Fiori, Neil Sedaka, Alvin Valley, Kari Talley, Jamie Creel, Vanessa von Bismarck, Matthew and Nicole Mellon (who is expecting her first baby on December 21st), Meredith Melling Burke, Christian Leone and and Yaz Hernandez, to name a huge handful.

Jamie Niven raised lots of dough with a lively auction (including a $200,000 Basso fur) and all the proceeds from the night went to provide financial assistance for adolescents and young adults that are in need of residential treatment but can’t afford it. In total the night raised over 1.2 million dollars!

Cominitto, a former Silver Hill patient and now volunteer, was very brave and spoke openly about his addiction to pain medicine after a skiing accident. “Silver Hill and my partner Dennis Basso saved my life,” he told the guests.

Natalie Cole also spoke about overcoming addiction. “I feel like this is like an AA meeting,” she joked on stage. Guest danced up a storm afterwards to the disco tunes of DJ Cassidy. Make mine a non-alcoholic Bellini, please.
