Sonia Rykiel Opens on Madison Avenue

Thursday, March 3, 2016

French fashion brand Sonia Rykiel is bringing a piece of Paris to New York with their new vibrant boutique lighting up Madison Avenue.

The space marks their first free-standing store in the U.S. under ownership of First Heritage Brands and the creative leadership of Artistic Director Julie de Libran. Located on the Upper East Side—between 68th and 69th Streets—the captivating window displays (currently featuring lounging red-glossed mannequins clad in printed silky pajama-style attire and bright fur stoles) allow a welcoming feel to the inside of the store.

The 2,000-square-foot boutique, inspired by Paris literary cafes, houses more than 15,000 volumes of French books among neatly displayed racks of clothing and accessories from their Spring/Summer 2016 collection.

Look down, and you’ll find fun tongue-in-cheek custom carpets designed by Saraiva, with a playful pattern of eyes, lips, and pencils.

“We are thrilled to bring Sonia Rykiel back to Madison Avenue,” said Eric Langon, CEO of the Parisian label. “This is a key step in the brand’s global development. We look forward to growing our footprint in the United States and to our continued acceleration for the years to come.”
