Spring, Sculpture and Skylight Soho

Friday, April 15, 2011

The art world’s it-girls (Yvonne Force Villareal and Casey Fremont) are at it again. After their hugely successful (and fun!) Good & Plenty fundraiser at the Park Avenue Armory on Monday, they held the The Sculpture Factory: Public Art Fund’s Spring Benefit last night at the Skylight Soho.

If you aren’t familiar (shame on you), Public Art Fund’s main initiative is to commission new projects and curate exhibitions of existing work that have not been seen in New York City. So naturally, notable creative types such as Hope Atherton, Linda and Andrew Safran, artists Rob Pruitt, Dustin Yellin, Gavin Brown and Glenn Ligon, Barbara Gladstone with the director of Gladstone Gallery Rosalie Benitez joined the gals and head curator/director Nicholas Baume.

The evening  kicked off with a cocktail party and featured art projects from Kate Gilmore, Sol LeWitt, Ryan McNamara and Michele Abeles, and JJ Peet.  Afterwards, guests enjoyed a silent auction and dinner.
