Two organizations, tops in their fields, joined forces to raise funds and taste levels for the third time last week at the opening of TEFAF New York Spring hosted by The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Jamee Gregory, President of The Society, greeted guests in a fauna-covered Oscar de la Renta frock, reminiscent, in the nicest way, of The Beverly Hills Hotel’s wallpaper. She told me, “The Society of MSK is proud to be beneficiary of Opening Night  TEFAF Spring! I can’t think of a better combination. Our supporters care deeply about the cutting-edge research and patient care, TEFAF’s dealers show the finest contemporary art, vetted by experts. The evening is glamorous and an opportunity to see world-class art and to mingle with friends. The Park Avenue Armory is decorated with Dutch blooms, and is the best way to combine passions for art and healing!”

When Jamee concluded her greetings, she dashed from the receiving line with Co-chairs, Jane Lauder, Caryn Zucker and Jessica van Lith to fellow chair, Fiona Druckenmiller’s ‘FD’ booth, filled with dazzling vintage and antique jewels. And another Fiona (what are the odds?), this one Rudin, was the lucky winner of The Raffles Hotel raffle, and told me she was leaning towards The Maldives.

TEFAF, an offshoot of Maastricht, is generally regarded as the top art fair. This spring, it focused on the modern era through today, with notable galleries like Aquavella (the oldest gallery represented) showing Lucien Freud among others, and Gagosian, in its first appearance here, offering Currins, Mardens and more. Among the connoisseurs: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen; Sienna Miller; Leonard, Ronald, Jo Carole, Aerin and Jane Lauder; Peter Marino; Jamie Tisch; Indre Rockefeller, Lucrezia Buccellati; Sarah Andelman; Casey Fremont Crowe; Gabriella de Givenchy; Jamie Drake; Adrienne and Gigi Vittadini; Geoffrey Bradfield; Nicole Miller; Lynn Gilbert; Kitty and Steven Sherril; Claudia Overstrom; Gretchen Gunlocke Fenton; Hilary Geary Ross; Harry Macklowe and Patricia Landau, and Lavinia Branca Snyder, Gregory’s Society predecessor, who presided when TEFAF and Memorial Sloan Kettering first joined forces in 2016.
