The 10th Annual Lung Cancer Awareness Luncheon

The Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) hosted a special signature event on October 29 at The Pierre Hotel. Known as the 10th Annual Lung Cancer Awareness Luncheon, the afternoon celebrated the innovative research projects that the organization has funded over the past decade and looked forward to their future goals.


During the event, a panel of LCRF researchers and Scientific Advisory Board members were on site for an engaging round of Q&A.


Overall, the LCRF awarded (a record!) $2.1 million in research grants as part of its 2015 Scientific Grant Program. The recipients were 28 honorable individuals who were selected from a pool of more than 140 applications from 92 institutions in 19 countries.


Congrats to those recognized for their outstanding achievements and efforts in contributing innovative strategies to prevent and treat lung cancer.


Those in attendance of the event included the LCRF’s Chairman Board of Directors, Pippa Gerard, Vice Chairman Board of Directors, Kimberly Kravis, Secretary Board of Directors, Laure Sudreau-Rippe, Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board James Dougherty, MD, Executive Director, Nancy Sanford, Vice Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board, and Brendon Stiles, MD, Director Scientific Programs, Jan Baranski, PhDAdditional guests included lung cancer survivor, Eve Cohn, recipient of the Scientific Merit Award (University of Massachusetts Medical School) Wen Xue, PhD, recipient of the William Rippe Award for Distinguished Research in Lung Cancer (Boston Children’s Hospital) Clara Kim, PhD, and Dr. Carla Kim’s colleague, Christine Fillmore, PhD.
