The A, B and Zee of Fashion: Joe Zee Launches his New Show “All on the Line” at Boom

Thursday, March 24, 2011

The AVENUEinsider loves being at Boom Boom Room at sunset (as opposed to after midnight – though that is fun too) so we were thrilled to toast Elle‘s Creative Director Joe Zee and former star of MTV’s “The City” as he celebrated his new show “All on the Line” which is about to air on The Sundance Channel.

“”The show is going to be so great in so many ways,” Zee told us. “You’ll get to see how the design process really happens, the struggles all designers go through to keep their businesses up and afloat and what it takes to make it in a cutthroat industy. Oh, and you’ll see plenty of drama too.” And The AVENUEinsider definitely digs drama.

Boom Boom was banging with DJ Mia Moretti‘s music. Droves of designers double kissed Mr. Zee who is one of the most loved people in fashion (his sweet and constant smile always wins us over). We spotted Reed Krakoff, Rachel Roy, Alexander Wang, Joseph Altruzarra, ageless Norma KamaliYigal Azrouel, Johan Lindenberg and Gemma Kahng who appears on the Sundance Channel series. “To see all eight designers together in one room, that was new for me and a bit surreal. I’m sure they spent a good amount of time comparing notes on me when I wasn’t there. Its a bit like having all your ex’es at a party together,” Zee joked. “You never know what that conversation is like when you’ve stepped away to the bathroom.”

By the packed room at the party (We also saw Sarah Sophie-Flicker, TV star Nate Berkus, Carlos Huber (about to launch his first unisex fragrance), Andre Balazs, Lauren Goodman, Kristian Laliberte, models Ben Hill and Garrett Neff, Estelle, photographers Thomas Whiteside and Danielle Levitt, Elle EIC Robbie Myers, style icon/Elle Style Director Kate Lanphear, Keith Pollock, Karen Duffy and more) we predict a big hit down the line for “All on the Line.”
