Sunday at Ludlow Studios The Bowery Mission hosted its kick-off event for the 2nd annual Lower East Side Art Drive, which will last through November 1.

The Art Drive provides an opportunity for the L.E.S visual arts community to come together and show appreciation and support of The Bowery Mission. The Drive’s kick-off event featured the first-ever Art-A-Thon. Using a phone app that finds local art around you, ARTLOCAL, Art-A-Thon participants navigated the participating L.E.S. galleries, checking in and checking out the art along the way. At the galleries, there is artwork available for purchase from which 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to The Bowery Mission.

Guests also experienced Beats by DJ Treats and poetic entertainment by The Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Brian Reyes was in attendance taking photographic portraits of guests too.

Since 1879, The Bowery Mission has been dedicated to serving the homeless and the hungry in New York.

The kick-off event would not have been as successful without the dedication of its host committee: Sandra April, Patricia Brundage, Zoe Buckman, Tracy Causey-Jeffrey, Billy Copley, John Derian, Vincent & Shelly Fremont, Philippe Hoerle-Guggenheim, Robert Lococo, Patrick McMullan and Jane Sutherland.
