The Guggenheim Hosts Its Annual International Gala Dinner, Sponsored By Dior

Last evening, Thursday November 6th, the Guggenheim held its signature annual International Gala Dinner, with this year’s event made possible by Dior. It serves as the museum’s prominent fundraising event, with funds going towards the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, which helps to care for the Guggenheim’s gorgeous Frank Lloyd Wright designed building, educational programs, and its unparalleled exhibits and collections of modern and contemporary works of art.

This year’s 2014 International Gala celebrated the works and contributions to the art world made by American artist Carrie Mae Weems, German artists Heinz Mack and Otto Piene, sculptor Günther Uecker, and Chinese artist Wang Jianwei. Gala Co-chairs included Christina BakerPhyllis Mack, and Denise Saul; aided by this year’s Honorary Co-chairs American power-couple Allison and Howard Lutnick, Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons, President of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation Jennifer Blei Stockman, and Dior’s Chief Executive Sidney Toledano.

The Gala’s star-studded list of attendees included Anna Wintour, actress Camilla Belle, members of London-based band The XX; Oliver Sim, Romy Madley Croft and Jamie xx, Editor Caroline Issa, actress and singer-songwriter Zoë Kravitz, architect Peter MarinoElizabeth von Thurn und Taxis, editor Hamish Bowles, artist Olympia Scarry, famed fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, art dealer Irving Blum and his wife Jackie, Glenda Bailey, art dealer and gallerist Larry Gagosian, artist Marilyn Minter, artist Alex Katz, businesswoman Julie Macklowe, stylist Brad Goreski, actress Leelee Sobieski, gallery owner Marian Goodman, and fashion designer Vivienne Tam.
