Despite a downer of a torrential downpour, late last week all of NYC’s PYTs showed up at the opening of the Mondrian SoHo Hotel where The Kills performed and every square inch was packed. In the crowd The AVENUEinsider eye-spied: Olivia Palermo, Russell Simmons, Andres Santo Domingo, Jefferson Hack, Ally Hilfiger, Scott Lipps, Zani Gugelmann, Brad Goreski, Stavros Niarchos, designers Richard Chai, Prabal Gurung, Thakoon, Rogan Gregory, Charlotte RonsonYigal Azrouel and Lisa Salzer. Also debuting that night was Poppy de Villeneuve‘s short film “Love is Like Life but Longer” which was screened in various locations throughout the hotel and also projected onto the Mondrian’s facade on Crosby Street.

After The Kills rocked the room, DJs Kiss and Harley Viera-Newton (one of AVENUE’s Best Dressed) spun tunes for a true mix of uptown socials and downtown club kids. Think: Amy Sacco, Sam Talbot (who’s restaurant Imperial No. Nine is in the hotel), Fabiola BeracasaSusanne Bartsch, Brad GoreskiChessy Wilson, William VitielloBecka Diamond, Kristian LaLiberte, Jay McInerney and Chiara Clemente. The late night birds then flew next door to the hotel’s lounge Mr. H (have you been yet? If not, you simply must check it out) where DJ Mia Moretti was on the decks of steel until 4am. Time to pop an Advil.
