Met’s newly annointed space for modern art hosts a special launch party for hundreds of  artists

In a series of launch celebrations, the newly opened Met Breuer finished off the opening weekend festivities with a special party for artists.

On March 5th, hundreds of artists, art critics, culture journalists, and other art world inhabitants coming from all kinds of backgrounds, assembled to ring in the new art space and to view the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection of contemporary art, to be housed in the Met Breuer’s splendid galleries.

Esteemed art domain’s guests like Tom Sachs, Josephine Meckseper, Mahlot Sansosa, Deborah Kass, Zoe Buckman, Hal Foster, Julia Chaplin, Cornelia Parker, and Polly Apfelbaum came out to celebrate this liminal moment for contemporary and modern art in New York City.

The attendees were entertained by a musical performance by Vijay Iver in the gallery’s lobby as the stepped inside the awe-inspiring architectural gem designed by Marcel Breuer. The evening went on and the artists were treated to cocktails and elaborately crafted canapes accompanied by multiple live musical treats. As the night filled with lively stories and discussions drew to a conclusion, museum’s notable visitors went up to the top floor, where they danced the Saturday night away to DJ Rowan Spencer’s playful tunes, partaking in an artfully fun celebration.
