Last night, top industry tastemakers and travel mavens toasted the U.S. Launch of Ultratravel, Europe’s largest luxury travel magazine, at Meatpacking hotspot The NoMad Hotel—whose eponymous restaurant just received 3 stars from the New York Times. Having already expanded into India and the Middle East, Ultratravel made its stateside debut with Editor in Chief Sarah Harrelson, former Editor in Chief of Ocean Drive, and Creative Director, Carlos Suarez. Mike Batt, Whitehaus Media Group Publisher, was also on hand to officially introduce the highly anticipated publication, immersing guests in an exclusive Ultratravel experience, and highlighting specific touch points that embody the core foundation of the international glossy.

“The purpose of the magazine is to deliver experiences that people are not otherwise exposed to,” Harrelson explained to AVENUEinsider.  “I think luxury has changed a lot in the past 10 years and it means different things to different people. A lot more people can access luxury now.” In short, the bar for luxury has been set higher, and the editorial team at Ultratravel makes sure that they keep up accordingly.

Despite record breaking temperatures yesterday, guests descended upon the NoMad en masse, cooling down with refreshing specialty cocktails from Caliche rum, including the Cali Daiquiri and Cali Mojito. Guests ended the evening by taking home an advanced copy of the premiere issue of the magazine, which debuts this month.
