The Rema Hort Foundation held its 20th Anniversary Gala and Art Auction last night. The foundation was started in 1995 by friends and family of Rema Hort to honor her after her untimely death from stomach cancer. Through the efforts of its many supporters, the foundation has grown into a dynamic and effective organization that acts as an advocate for emerging artists and provides support to individuals suffering from cancer. Through its two grant programs, the Los Angeles Emerging Artist Grant Program and the LA Quality of Life Cancer Grant Program, the organization provides financial support to artists and cancer patients and their families.

Last night’s event, which included cocktails, a seated diner and silent and live auctions, commemorated RHMF’S legacy and its commitment to help outstanding new art and pioneering program. The foundation honored two advocates of these causes, Dr. David Biro, one of the founding members of the RHMF Quality of Life Program for his continued involvement and great support of the Foundation; and Klaus Biesenbach, Director of MoMA P.S. 1 for his support of emerging art both in New York and abroad.

Other guests included Peter Hort, Alexander Kroll, Dana Schutz, Laurence Chandler, Scott Campbell, Susan Hort, Jennifer Fisher, Lauren Manning and John Miller.
