Central Park Conservancy Film Festival

Landscape between Sheep Meadow and the 72nd Street Cross Drive


The weeklong film festival features outdoor screenings of popular movies. DJ Spin Diesel from 6:30 p.m. until movie starts at 8 p.m.

Total Solar Eclipse at the American Museum of Natural History


August 21, Noon–4 p.m.


Cullman Hall of the Universe, Rose Center for Earth and Space


View the solar eclipse from the Hayden Planetarium. On the afternoon of August 21, the Moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, completely blocking out the Sun for about 3 minutes in a swath of  North America stretching from Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. While New York is not in this “path of totality,” the city will be able to see the Moon cover about 75% of the Sun, and the Rose Center for Earth and Space will stream NASA’s live broadcast of the Total Solar Eclipse.
