AOL is getting very arty. CEO Tim Armstrong and Whitney Museum Director Adam D. Weinberg filled Casa Lever with some of the biggest names, young and old, in the art world to celebrate AOL’s commitment to the arts. So remember chicsters, AOL isn’t just about IMing from your “buddy list” from your office anymore. In fact, in commemoration of their 25th anniversary, AOL recently launched “AOL Originals” – the first commercial campaign by Chuck Close. Not too shabby. So far the AOL Originals Close has captured include Claire Danes, Alec Baldwin, Liya Kebede and Gus Van Sant. Hey Chuck, I’m ready for my Close-up.


The dinner was table to table cool with art stars everywhere like Gregory Crewdson, Peter McGough, Tom Sachs, Christo, Andres Serrano, Mike and Doug Starn, Aaron Young, Chuck Close and Aurel Schmidt. Add PYTs like Jen Brill, Minnie Mortimer, event-planner master Bronson Van Wyck (who is designing the Whitney Studio party tomorrow night), photographer Todd Eberle, Thom Browne, Lola Schnabel, Andy and Kate Spade, Akris CEO Melissa Beste,¬†and Whitney Gala C-Chairs Ginevra Caltagirone Guarducci and Fern Kaye Tessler. My highlight? Meeting the legendary Gloria von Thurn und Taxis. Who doesn’t love a wild royal?
