Through one of our many informants, AVENUE has just found out that the after party of tonight’s Guild Hall Summer Gala will be DJ’ed by none other than Questlove. The big-haired, big-hearted Roots frontman has been something of a Hamptons kick lately—he also performed at the Paddle and Party for Pink last weekend. Is this all the prelude to riding in the Hamptons Classic? Only time will tell.

But enough about Quest. The real focus for tonight is Guild Hall, one of the Hamptons’ premiere arts organizations. For over 80 years, the Hall has been a mainstay of the Hamptons scene, with innovative theatrical performances and cutting-edge exhibitions. And they’re no slouch on the gala front either! Tonight’s event will be hosted by the painter April Gornik, and will honor the philanthropist and photographer Bonnie Lautenberg. There will also be cocktails and dancing.

Tomorrow, the museum will debut two exciting new exhibitions. The first is “Avedon’s America”, an exciting look at one of America’s greatest photographers, and his incredible grasp on the culture and politics of the 20th century, “From the Civil and Women’s Rights Movements to the Vietnam War, and with pioneering figures in visual, performing, and literary arts, subjects include William F. Buckley, John Cage, Janis Joplin, Florynce Kennedy, China Machado, Malcolm X, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump.”

The second is “Jackson Pollock: The Graphic Works”, a revelatory look at a lesser-known side of one of the Hamptons’ greatest artists. Although best known for his paintings, Pollock experimented with printmaking, too, and this show takes a close look at the intaglios he made in 1944 and 1945, “critical in his development and forecast his signature style in painting.”

Both exhibitions will be on view through October 9, but the gala is tonight only. Don’t miss it!
