The UN Women For Peace Association (UNWFPA) held its Annual Awards Luncheon on March 4, honoring advocates fighting fighting violence against women worldwide. Chaired by Muna Rihani Al-Nasser, the event brought together men and women who work tirelessly to eradicate these terrible crimes.

This year’s honorees were UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, UNWFPA patron Mrs. Ban Soon-Taek, international philanthropist Eugenio Lopez, humanitarian HRH Camilla of Bourbon Duchess of Castro, and women’s empowerment activist Francine LeFrak on behalf of her foundation, Same Sky. The luncheon was also a kickoff to the annual Saturday March in March Rally in support of women.

UNWFPA was founded in 2008 under the patronage of H.E. Mrs. Ban Soon-Taek. The organization seeks to promote awareness of crimes against women, and to advance the goals of UN agencies that provide opportunities for women through social, cultural, educational and empowerment programs within the framework of the global peace-building process.

Among attendees were Kat Graham, Dionne Warwick, Dayle Haddon, Olivia Jordan, Pia Wurtzbach, Melinda and Matthew Morris Jeanine Pirro, Karen LeFrak, Kasia McCormick, Pira Amirsaleh, Nassrin Zahedi, Denise LeFrak, Jennifer Bandier, Toto Bergamo, Hayley Rynehart, Jan Dilenschneider, Nancy Woolsey and Henry Timms.
