Things got wild at The Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club on Friday, August 3rd at Veterinarians International (VI)’s Wild at Heart Gala. The evening was the organization’s most successful event ever, doubling last year’s proceeds.

Christie Brinkley sparkled as she poured her organic Bellisima Prosecco alongside the evening’s emcee VI Ambassador Christine Evangelista, founder Dr. Scarlett Magda and gala co-chairs Jessica Hollander and Sacha Lehto. Gala Committee members Antonella Bertello, Jill Alcott, Christina Blaustein, Drew Davis, Nicole Shore, Maren Kate Donovan, Terri Hoffman, Jenna Kniep, Luis Torres, Tracey Holmes and Thuyen Nguyen welcomed the 220 guests.

Last year’s honoree, Penni Ludwig, attended as did fellow benefit committee members Alec Sokolow, Andy Arons, Jack Kelly, Kate Gilroy, Anne Chaisson and Kyriaki Chonacas, who donated several mixed media art pieces to the silent auction. Artists Steve Miller, Paul Gerben, Paul Christopher and The Sophisticated Psychos also contributed artwork for the cause.

The standing room only crowd applauded as legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle presented the VI Presidential Award to author and ecologist Dr. Carl Safina for his innovative theories exploring the relationship between humans and animals.

The fun then moved out to the terrace where DJ Alexandra Richards spun tunes. Festivities spilled spread down to the beach bonfire where Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman took off his politico poncho and wowed the crowd with his drumming skills, honed in Mali.

A highlight of the evening was the spirited live auction bid-off for a trip to Thailand with Magda. “It not only brought the wild out of people but also their hearts,” said National Geographic Explorer Asher Jay, “One bidder almost found love over a paddle raise.”
