I just can’t seem to stop gushing about New York Fashion Week. Milan is almost over and Paris is just beginning–but here’s a look back at some more of my favorite shows from earlier this month…

Oscar de la Renta-

The Oscar de la Renta spring 2012 show was full unlooked-for and unexpected twists and magnificent clothes. The runway was lined with surprising guest like Justin Timberlake and Nicki Minaj; a fabulous meld of celebrity. The champion-of-class, de la Renta, chose a offbeat set of tunes for the show, such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin- this paired so well with the ultra-enthusiastic collection of mature neons, socks with heels and a overall ‘flirty’ fit. Not ignoring his elegant-radix, Oscar showed supreme supplements of lace, embellished cocktail dresses and evening gowns that seemed to be pulled from a kind of gypsy-chic fairy tale.

Carolina Herrera-

At moments, the designs of Carolina Herrera can seem stuffy and unapproachable, this was not the case in the spring 2012 collection. Fresh and vibrant garments floated down the runway. Playful prints, ebullient hues of canary yellow, grass green and ‘cornflower’ on etherial materials like cotton, lace and crepe de chine gestured to a young woman with spot-on taste and class. A geometric play took part of the collection as well in the beading, prints, cuts and embellishments. This collection was timeless. It hit every key on the style-spectrum; something for every age group.

The Blonds-

Perhaps one of the most entertaining shows during fashion week, The Blonds did not disappoint this season. Partnered with PLAYBOY, The Blonds designed a over the top collection that was bunny inspired. Fox puffs, ears and a plethora of sparkle strutted the runway. Who needs modest clothing when you can wear a laser-cut mirror corsets? The Blonds did what they do best, entertaining clothing. The highlight of the collection was this kind of gazelle-like fur dress. The duo partnered with Christian Louboutin for fantastic and furry footwear.
