Sometimes it can be hard to figure out what to do over the weekend. In a city like New York, there are just too many options. Fortunately, AVENUE’s editors have put their collective heads together and come up with a few suggestions, ranging from an exciting art fair to, uh, another exciting art fair. What unites them all is that they’re worth your time.

The Armory Show

Over 200 gallerists are presenting at the art world mainstay the Armory Show. Whether you can afford a piece here or not, it’s a great way to spend a day this weekend.

Piers 92 and 94 & 94, New York

Thursday, March 8th through Sunday, March 11th

The Independent Art Fair

This art fair, the alternative, avant-garde cousin of the Armory Show, is also well worth your time, as AVENUE’s Ben Diamond discovered.

Spring Studios, 50 Varick Street, New York

Friday, March 9th through Sunday, March 11th

Antonio Lopez

Fashion photographer Antonio Lopez has faded from view in the years since his early death at 44, in 1987. But a new show of his work at Danziger Gallery ought to change that. Catch it this weekend, if you’re not too tired from the fairs.

Danziger Gallery, 95 Rivington Street, New York

Open through April 28th

The Death of Stalin

Alright, enough art for this week. Veep’s Armando Iannucci has returned with The Death of Stalin, a hilarious new comedy about that most hilarious of subjects—the 1953 battle of succession to succeed Joseph Stalin. It’s definitely nyet to be missed!

IFC Center, 323 Sixth Avenue, New York
