Waldo is getting an upgrade with a new book written by Stacy Caldwell and Ajiri A. Aki and illustrated by Michelle Baron.

A parody of the little red and white striped cartoon and of the Chanel god himself, the book tells the story of a fictional fashion blogger who’s former model mother’s tales of walking the runways sparks an obsession with Karl Lagerfeld and inspires her to look for him wherever she can.

However just like the real Karl when he isn’t reigning supreme at Paris fashion week, the fictional one is hard to find and the protagonist needs readers to help locate him in the gorgeously illustrated images of fifteen different cities.

Standing right by some of your favorite fashion faces, including Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung, Kate Moss and Carine Roitfeld, Karl may pop up at the Met Gala, the Aman Resort in India and Art Basel in Miami amongst many other fashion hot spots.

Guests at the book launch party, held on Wednesday September 16 at Barney’s, had fun searching for Karl and sharing stories about their own unique encounters with the famous designer.

Both authors and illustrator were on hand to sign copies and talk about their inspiration for the book; a story about seeing Lagerfeld picking up the morning paper during a Paris FW caught people’s attention.

Amongst the invitees were Simon Doonan, Julie Henderson and Tomoko Ogura
