Whitney Museum of American Art Celebrates 2015 Art Party

The Whitney Museum of Art held its annual Art Party on Tuesday, marking the first fundraiser event to take place in their new home: the acclaimed Renzo Piano building in the Meatpacking District.

Sponsored by Max Mara this year, the celebration was hosted annually by Whitney Contemporaries (a group of young leaders and art patrons who play an active role in fulfilling the museum’s mission in supporting American art).

The evening brought together art lovers and supporters of the museum who enjoyed a preview of works by exhibition artists Rachel Rose and Jared Madere. Artists on view throughout the evening included Jake Cruzen, Joseph Geagan, Valerie Keane, and Veit Laurent Kurz.

Entertainment and music was in no short supply—performances held by Ignabu and DonChristian pumped up the party while music flowed steadily thanks to DJ Boody and Harley Viera-Newton. Overall, the evening was a grand success, raising proceeds from ticket sales to support the Whitney’s educational initiatives.

Attendees included Whitney Chief Curator Scott Rothkopf, Whitney Trustee Joanne Leonhardt Cassullo, Gina Gershon, Sophie Simmons, Leigh Lezark, Sarah Arison, Alina Baikova, Andreja Pejić, and more.
