One of our favorite street artists, the provocative British stencil master Banksy, has kept his identity a huge secret (much like one of our favorite designers: Martin Margiela). Remaining anonymous is not easy to do in the age of Twitter and camera phones, but Banksy’s face and real name have never been revealed. Now that Banksy is nominated for an Oscar for his documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, we wonder who he will send in his place to the Academy Awards ceremony. It’s too good a press opportunity to not make any statement.

Marlon Brando sent Sacheen Littlefeather, donning full Apache gear and in protest of the treatment of American Indians, to NOT collect (but give a non-acceptance speech) his Best Actor Oscar for The Godfather in 1972.

I wonder if Sacheen is available this year.
