It was a wild night at the Central Park Zoo last Thursday, when the Wildlife Conservation Society held its annual gala. The WCS website boasts the event as “the benefit party of the year.” Guests attended a dinner to honor Ward W. Woods, Chair of the WCS Board of Trustees for his unwavering support of wildlife conservation. Woods has served as Chair since 2007. Those in attendance celebrated with drinks, dining, and dancing. DJ Chelsea Leyland provided music late into the night for those fresh-faced partygoers like Sebastian Pinto-Thomaz, Natasha Blodget, Taylor Ivey, Justin Weiss, and Chris and Maggie Kempner, who attended the gala’s after party soirée as well.

Guests dressed to the nines and were wowed by the event’s Wonders of Southeast Asia theme, chosen to highlight and celebrate the WCS’s recent work to protect wildlife habitats throughout the regions of Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. The night’s honorary chairs were Amie and Tony James, Lisa and David T. Schiff, and Mary and Howard Phipps Jr. Gala attendees included Katie Couric, John Molner, Muffie Potter Aston, Rebecca Regan, Gregory Speck, Boo Grace, and Jean Shafiroff.
