Celebrities and New York social fixtures, clad in Louis Vuitton, spent their evening at the Whitney Museum on Tuesday night to celebrate the opening of Yayoi Kusama’s exhibit.  Kusama is known for her extensive use of polka dots, nets and large environments. Louis Vuitton collaborated with Kusama to create a new clothing line that is inspired by her active designs. Diane Kruger and Dianna Agron both wore pieces from Vuitton’s Resort 2013 collection while Harley Viera Newton and Lauren Santo Domingo dressed in sweet, lacy pieces from the French designer’s celebrated Spring 2012 collection.

The theme for the celebration, “Love Forever”, could not be missed with the venue’s walls covered in bright red polka dots and models sporting big red bows and tights with the celebrated dots all over.

Even more exceptional than her art is Kusama herself. The Japan native is 83 years old and owns half of the pieces that will be on display. She is one of Japan’s most prominent contemporary artists and has shown her display in London, Madrid and Paris. Her work will be on display at the Whitney Museum through September 30th.

What’s the Point?

Upstate, nature trumps social voyeurism. That’s the point.
