The Royal Botanical Garden’s Young Garden held a private viewing of the new Frida Kahlo exhibition last night, June 18.

The group, comprising of 21-40-year-old art and garden enthusiasts, was treated to an after-hours al fresco event with a Mexican theme in honor of painter Frida Kahlo.

The exclusive exhibition features a rare collection of over a dozen of the artist’s works, and reimagines Kahlo’s garden and studio at Casa Azul, Mexico City.

At the event, guests enojyed guided Jose Cuervo tequila tasting and Mexican-inspired canapes, as they perused the grounds and the beautiful Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Music was provided by DJ duo AndrewAndrew.

Many guests decided to dress for the Frida Kahlo theme, with some supporting ornate floral head dresses and others wearing garden-inspired gowns.

The exhibition at the Royal Botanical Garden will feature a string of al fresco events between now and October. See www.nybg.org for more information.
