Couture Council hosts Luncheon and conversation with zac posen

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

This afternoon, lucky Couture Council members had the opportunity to dine with world-renowned designer Zac Posen. The event was held at the Doubles club in the beautiful Sherry Netherland Hotel. The Couture Council is a membership-based organization, which helps support the FIT Museum.  Luncheons such as this are a great way for members to meet designers, and also for the council to fundraise. It looked and felt like a scene straight out of the Great Gatsby, amazing food and cocktails and splendid discussions. Zac Posen was quite the amazing host, making sure guests were enjoying themselves, making his way around the room talking to everyone. Before lunch took place, Dr. Valarie Steele interviewed Zac in front of the “audience.” He discussed his love of, and experience in, fashion and how it grew from when he was a toddler until now. It was quite spectacular to see a designer as accomplished as Posen is still so accessible and down to earth. It was a lovely occasion to kick off the summer; attended by huge fashion industry individuals such as Valrie Salmbier, Yaz Hernandaz, Rosemary Ponzo, Jean Shafiroff, and Patricia Mears.
